Romney sheep fleece. This fleece came from Fromberg. I go out to Annabel's every year for sheep shearing.

Here is a lock from the fleece after it has been washed. I place locks from the fleeces in mesh bags, roll them up and secure them.
The fleece is washed by soaking. If you washed it as you would your regualr laundry, it would felt.

I was fortunate to have a woman drop off a couple of Llama fleeces at my doorstep. Llama and alpaca fleeces as a general rule, are NOT washed. They do not have the lanolin that a sheep fleece does, therefore, vm (vegetable matter) does not stick.
Llamas fleeces are dusty though. I have heard they like a good dirt/dust bath!

Here is a single lock of llama, after it has been brushed out.
